"If I wanted Sadaam and I want Osama, I gotta take on Helen"

COURTESY? OF DRUDGE??? OH YEAH BRING THIS ON BABAY! PUT ON MY TIN FOIL HAT AND SING! BUSH TAKES ON PRESS AND HELEN THOMAS TOO Tue Mar 21 2006 14:40:12 ET Helen Thomas, who in January grumbled that President Bush was a “coward” for not calling on her at a press conference, today was granted a question for the first time in several years. The doyenne of the White House press corps, who once called Bush the worst president in U.S. history, seized her chance with gusto, essentially debating Bush instead of questioning him. Here's the transcript:THE PRESIDENT: Helen. After that brilliant performance at the Grid Iron, I am -- (laughter.) Q You're going to be sorry. (Laughter.) THE PRESIDENT: Well, then, let me take it back. (Laughter.) Q I'd like to ask you, Mr. President, your decision to invade Iraq has caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis, wounds of Americans and Iraqis for a lifetime. Every reason given, publicly at least, has turned out not to be true. My question is, why did you really want to go to war? From the moment you stepped into the White House, from your Cabinet -- your Cabinet officers, intelligence people, and so forth -- what was your real reason? You have said it wasn't oil -- quest for oil, it hasn't been Israel, or anything else. What was it? THE PRESIDENT: I think your premise -- in all due respect to your question and to you as a lifelong journalist -- is that -- I didn't want war. To assume I wanted war is just flat wrong, Helen, in all due respect -- Q Everything -- THE PRESIDENT: Hold on for a second, please. Q -- everything I've heard -- THE PRESIDENT: Excuse me, excuse me. No President wants war. Everything you may have heard is that, but it's just simply not true. My attitude about the defense of this country changed on September the 11th. We -- when we got attacked, I vowed then and there to use every asset at my disposal to protect the American people. Our foreign policy changed on that day, Helen. You know, we used to think we were secure because of oceans and previous diplomacy. But we realized on September the 11th, 2001, that killers could destroy innocent life. And I'm never going to forget it. And I'm never going to forget the vow I made to the American people that we will do everything in our power to protect our people. Part of that meant to make sure that we didn't allow people to provide safe haven to an enemy. And that's why I went into Iraq -- hold on for a second -- Q They didn't do anything to you, or to our country. THE PRESIDENT: Look -- excuse me for a second, please. Excuse me for a second. They did. The Taliban provided safe haven for al Qaeda. That's where al Qaeda trained -- Q I'm talking about Iraq -- THE PRESIDENT: Helen, excuse me. That's where -- Afghanistan provided safe haven for al Qaeda. That's where they trained. That's where they plotted. That's where they planned the attacks that killed thousands of innocent Americans. I also saw a threat in Iraq. I was hoping to solve this problem diplomatically. That's why I went to the Security Council; that's why it was important to pass 1441, which was unanimously passed. And the world said, disarm, disclose, or face serious consequences -- Q -- go to war -- THE PRESIDENT: -- and therefore, we worked with the world, we worked to make sure that Saddam Hussein heard the message of the world. And when he chose to deny inspectors, when he chose not to disclose, then I had the difficult decision to make to remove him. And we did, and the world is safer for it. Q Thank you, sir. Secretary Rumsfeld -- (laughter.) Q Thank you. THE PRESIDENT: You're welcome. (Laughter.) I didn't really regret it. I kind of semi-regretted it. (Laughter.) Q -- have a debate. THE PRESIDENT: That's right. Anyway, your performance at the Grid Iron was just brilliant -- unlike Holland's, was a little weak, but -- (laughter.)THE END

The Rumsfeld - 4th Reich - SOLUTION, according to Joe Biden (D-Del.)

Story edited

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Leaving Iraq now would be the same as handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in a column published on Sunday, as retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton called Rumsfeld incompetent and urged him to resign.

"Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis," Rumsfeld wrote in an essay published in The Washington Post on the third anniversary of the start of the Iraq war....

~but~

"Imagine what would happen if it were announced tomorrow in the headlines of the papers of in America and throughout the world that Rumsfeld was fired," said Sen. Joseph Biden, a Delaware Democrat. "It would energize, energize the rest of the world. They'd be willing to help us."

((((WHY DO I HEAR THE THEME OF THE OLD LENIN -STALIN INTERNATIONALE SONG OF RUSSIA BEHIND ME???)))))

Scooter's trial could finally expose inside story of the lies behind the Iraq War by Joe in DC - 3/18/2006

Looks like Scooter is threatening to play hard ball with his old colleagues over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW:

New legal documents raise the potential that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's trial could turn into a political embarrassment for the Bush administration by focusing on whether the White House manipulated intelligence to justify the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. (((the music is getting louder- and it's in French!!))) damn we might as well be in a communist state if george the king has his damn cheney-way---Is this computer bugged???

First, this mess is already a political embarrassment for the White House. The trial is just going to make it an even bigger political embarrassment.

Since the trial may finally provide some answers watch the White House try everything in their power to quash the it.

"It just feels wrong," one Simpson insider told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that the actress keeps her political views private. "She would love to meet the president and talk about Operation Smile ... but she can't do it at a fund-raiser for the Republican Party."

After hearing about real-lfe threats on our Justices, is it time to SHUT ANN COULTER UP?

YES, BOUND AND GAG HER, TOO. But this is not funny, nor is it an episode of "Law & Order".

AP STORY: Justice Ginsburg Reveals Details of Threat
Mar 15, 2006
By GINA HOLLAND Associated Press Writer,
WASHINGTON

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she and former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor have been the targets of death threats from the "irrational fringe" of society, people apparently spurred by Republican criticism of the high court.

Ginsburg revealed in a speech in South Africa last month that she and O'Connor were threatened a year ago by someone who called on the Internet for the immediate "patriotic" killing of the justices.

Security concerns among judges have been growing.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter joked earlier this year that Justice John Paul Stevens should be poisoned. Over the past few months O'Connor has complained that criticism, mainly by Republicans, has threatened judicial independence to deal with difficult issues like gay marriage.

Worry is not limited to the Supreme Court. Three quarters of the nation's 2,200 federal judges have asked for government-paid home security systems, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said this week.

Ginsburg said the Web threat was apparently prompted by legislation in Congress, filed by Republicans, that would bar judges from relying on foreign laws or court decisions.

"It is disquieting that they have attracted sizable support. And one not-so-small concern _ they fuel the irrational fringe," she said in a speech posted online by the court earlier this month and first reported Wednesday by LegalTimes.com.

According to Ginsburg, someone in a Web site chat room wrote: "Okay commandoes, here is your first patriotic assignment ... an easy one. Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg and O'Connor have publicly stated that they use (foreign) laws and rulings to decide how to rule on American cases. This is a huge threat to our Republic and Constitutional freedom. ... If you are what you say you are, and NOT armchair patriots, then those two justices will not live another week."

Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Fla., a sponsor of one of the congressional proposals, wrote about the legislation on his Web site and in bold letters featured a quote from O'Connor predicting the Supreme Court would probably increasingly rely on foreign courts.

Ginsburg pointed out that the legislation was first proposed in 2004, an election year.

Justices, in some of their most hotly contested rulings, have looked overseas. Last year, for example, justices barred the executions of juvenile killers on a 5-4 vote. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said then that "it is proper that we acknowledge the overwhelming weight of international opinion against the juvenile death penalty."

In an angry dissent to that decision, Justice Antonin Scalia said capital punishment policy should be set by states, not "the subjective views of five members of this court and like-minded foreigners."

Ginsburg said, "Critics in Congress and in the media misperceive how and why U.S. courts refer to foreign and international court decisions." She said those decisions are used for guidance only.
O'Connor said last week during a speech at Georgetown Law School that the justices have received threats. But the Ginsburg remarks at the Constitutional Court of South Africa provide unusual detail.

Ginsburg, who turned 73 Wednesday, told the audience O'Connor "remains alive and well _ as for me, you can judge for yourself."

"DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT"

DRUDGE SEZ: Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) went to the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon and displayed an enormous sign that read “Dangerously Incompetent” while giving a speech attacking the Bush administration over first responder and Homeland Security funding.

Stabenow was on the Senate floor selling an amendment she has offered to increase funding for first responders by $5 billion. “God forbid that there is another terrorist attack or a natural disaster,” Stabenow warned. ...

Debbie Stabenow's (D-MI) sign on the House floor speaks a thousand words. Every Republican web log in cyberspace is relishing her speech about Bush & CO., CALLING HER A NUT. Like Town Hall and Human Rights On-line (yes, the people who still need a fact + spellcheck)

But is she right? (no pun intended) Ask her yourself.

COMMENTARY: I may be speaking from a PR POV, but the way the white house communicates may unfortunately be a main reason their approval rating is at an all-time low. Even the GOP wants Bushie O.U.T.! DRUDGE REPORT

ABRAMOFF: 'I WAS A KILLER' Wed Mar 08 2006

An insider tells (Vanity Fair interviewer David) Margolick that Abramoff blames competing Republican lobbyists and Arizona Senator John McCain-with whom Abramoff says he's had a contentious relationship-for his downfall. Abramoff tells Margolick that McCain staffers deliberately humiliated him, doling out embarrassing e-mails to the press. "Mr. Abramoff flatters himself," Mark Salter, McCain's administrative assistant, tells Margolick. "Senator McCain was unaware of his existence until he read initial press accounts of Abramoff's abuses, and had never laid eyes on him until he appeared before the committee.

"Abramoff says, "As best I can remember, when I met with him, he didn't have his eyes shut. I'm surprised that Senator McCain has joined the chorus of amnesiacs.

"Abramoff is well aware of his peril: "In a different era I'd be killed on the street or have poison poured into my coffee," he tells Margolick. Abramoff embarrassingly admits to gaining 50 pounds due to stress and tells Margolick that sending him to prison is "stupid," saying, "Let me teach English, history, music. Or let me sweep floors at the reservation. Instead you'll be paying to feed me to sit in a jail.""I was a killer. I killed for my clients, and it eventually killed me," Abramoff tells Margolick. "Or I eventually killed me.

And there were a lot of other hands on the knife.""My so-called relationship with Bush, Rove, and everyone else at the White House has only become important because, instead of just releasing details about the very few times I was there, they created a feeding frenzy by their deafening silence. The Democrats are going overboard, virtually insisting I was there to plan the invasion of Iraq. This is why this non-story grabbed headlines for weeks."

Abramoff discusses his relationship with:President Bush, who claims not to remember having his picture taken with Abramoff. According to Abramoff, at one time, the president joked with Abramoff about his weight lifting past: "What are you benching, buff guy?" Tom DeLay, who once referred to Abramoff as one of his closest friends. Abramoff explains his working relationship with DeLay, saying, "I didn't spend a lot of time lobbying Tom for things, because the things I worked on were usually consistent with the conservative philosophy." Abramoff has "admired Tom DeLay and his family from the first meeting with him," he tells Margolick. "We would sit and talk about the Bible. We would sit and talk about opera. We would sit and talk about golf," Abramoff recalls. "I mean, we talked about philosophy and politics."

Ken Mehlman, who recently claimed he didn't really know Abramoff. According to documents obtained by Vanity Fair, Mehlman exchanged e-mail with Abramoff, and did him political favors (such as preventing Clinton administration alumnus Allen Stayman from keeping a State Department job), had Sabbath dinner at Abramoff's house, and offered to pick up Abramoff's tab at Signatures, Abramoff's own restaurant. Newt Gingrich, whose spokesman Rick Tyler tells Margolick that "Before [Abramoff's] picture appeared on TV and in the newspapers, Newt wouldn't have known him if he fell across him. He hadn't seen him in 10 years." A rankled Abramoff says "I have more pictures of [Newt] than I have of my wife." Abramoff shows Margolick numerous photographs: "Here's Newt. Newt. Newt. Newt. More Newt. Newt with Grover [Norquist, the Washington conservative Republican Über-strategist and longtime Abramoff friend] this time. But Newt never met me. Ollie North. Newt. Can't be Newt ... he never met me. Oh, Newt! What's he doing there? Must be a Newt look-alike.... Newt again! It's sick! I thought he never met me!" Senator Conrad Burns, of Montana, who was one of the largest single recipients of Abramoff loot, has blanketed the airwaves calling Abramoff a liar, claiming that he never influenced the senator. Abramoff says: "Every appropriation we wanted [from Burns's committee] we got. Our staffs were as close as they could be. They practically used Signatures as their cafeteria. I mean, it's a little difficult for him to run from that record." Ronald Reagan, whom he met as a College Republican. "It was like meeting the king," Abramoff tells Margolick.

ABRAMOFF ON HIS CRIMES:

"I was moving a mile a minute and didn't conceive that I could be doing something wrong, and as I got near to the edge I either concealed it or I convinced myself that I wasn't having a problem. I was basically so busy winning that I didn't see what I was doing. They say, 'Stop and smell the roses'? I didn't stop and smell the dung heap. Unfortunately, now I'm paying for it dearly."

ABRAMOFF ON THE WAY HE DID BUSINESS:

"Most lobbyists meet with a committee chairman, staff, a few members. We'd meet with the whole leadership of the House and Senate, the entire committee on both sides, then create a roster of who might ideologically support the idea and get them in the war.... We'd get people firing constantly on the decision-makers. And we'd outwork everyone in the media.... Most Washington lobbyists are lazy, people of limits, people who move glacially slow. I felt my job was to go out there and save the world.... I thought it was immoral to take someone's money and not win for them. And we basically didn't lose.

"ABRAMOFF ON WHETHER OR NOT HE HARMED THE COUNTRY:

"There were times when I helped the country and the causes that I love and obviously times when I hurt them. The exposure of my lobbying practice, the absurd amount of media coverage, and the focus-for the first time-on this sausage-making factory that we call Washington will ultimately help reform the system, or at least so I hope. The only thing that a clever lobbyist cannot manipulate is the absence of something to lobby for or fight against."

ABRAMOFF ON (((THE))) INDIAN COUNTRY:

"The entire Indian country has come together in a big kumbaya of hatred for me. It just tears at my soul."

CRASH wins Best Picture -- Surprised?-- and oh,yes, I [heart] George Clooney, too xxx-oh!

From Nikki Finke's LALALALA Weekly - blog-0-column: "Well, turns out I was right. Hollywood showed tonight it isn’t the liberal bastion it once was. That’s pitiful if you’re a progressive, and pleasing if you’re a conservative."

MORE FROM NIKKI - she hated the awards, she hated Jon Stewart (YAWN) she hated the whole thing---- but I didn't --- I never ever do! Except it would be nice for AMPAS to finally give Glenn Ford that honorary Oscar.

My special OSCAR mention is about George Clooney who I have praised ("Good Night and Good Luck") here and trashed more recently (on behalf of my old client Jack Abramoff when George said that Jack was a 'Jack_____F' { and old Chicago-midwestern swear word!} on the Golden Globe telecast JACK'S FATHER WAS FURIOUS! )

But last night on that perennial "meat parade", George Clooney was Grade A Prime; (and oh, he reeked with class -- even I would have put my shoes under his bed--for just one night.)

“And finally, I would say that, you know, we are a little bit out of touch in Hollywood every once in a while, I think. It’s probably a good thing. Uhm, we’re the ones who talk about AIDS when it was just being whispered. And we talked about civil rights when it wasn’t really popular. And we, uh, you know, we bring up subjects…we are the ones…this Academy, this group of people gave Hattie McDaniel an Oscar in 1939 when blacks were still sitting in the backs of theaters. I’m proud to be a part of this Academy. I’m proud to be part of this community. I’m proud to be out of touch. And I thank you so much for this.”

I read Ann Coulter on Oscar: I wanted to SAY ANYTHING about the level of contradiction--dare I speak hypocricy's name, and then I read_________

THIS

from AMERICABLOG, and deadly on point, of course.

If Ann Coulter were her fans' daughter, they'd call her a slut
by John in DC - (((comments by HighVizPR))) 3/05/2006 02:55:00 PM

It's funny how Ann Coulter gets away with being such a conservative cultural marm when she lives the life of such a skank. The woman lived in New York City, then moved to Palm Beach, dresses like a slut, and hangs out with gay men like Matt Drudge (a "conservative" closet case who lives in South Beach, ((((and Ann also lives in the Hamptons))) where he moved from Hollywood). I'm sorry, but such is not the lifestyle of a raging conservative who has any credibility attacking liberal lifestyles. Ann lives the liberal lifestyle I can only dream of (except the tight slutty clothing).

And the real irony is that while conservatives love Coulter's rants against liberal morality, if she were their daughter and dressed the way she does, they'd ground her. Thus we lead into Ann's Oscar predictions. They're not really predictions, per se, the article is just another chance for Ann to launch bigoted attacks - this time calling gays "homos" and suggesting that Ang Lee will win an Academy Award for being "Asian."

But the most atrocious and dangerous part of Coulter's article is her, once again, defense of Senator Joseph McCarthy. You see, Ann thinks Senator McCarthy, the guy who launched anti-communist witch hunts against so many innocent Americans based on no evidence whatsoever, well that Senator McCarthy got a bum rup in history, according to Ann.

Here's an excerpt from her most recently article, that I won't be linking to: (((but HighVizPR must and WILL -- this is WHY I BLOG *** )))

--The best original screenplay will be "Good Night, and Good Luck" as Hollywood's final tribute to the old Stalinists (Hollywood's version of "The Greatest Generation").

Ah yes, the McCarthy years. The real crime was all the "Stalinist" liberals that the poor Senator had to root out.Coulter would be pathetic if she weren't so widely admired by Republicans. She goes to their dinners and gets paid a pretty sum to spew her venomous bigotry. And the Republicans have no problem with it.

(((Ann Coulter, you are a Goddamn fool. Please, please open and read her predictions, and laugh at the ridiculousness of her ranting! More and more venues are firing her -- here's why -- because her 'edgy 'conservativism is a ruse as long as she living the lifestyle of a Condi wannabe in a Matt Drudge world ----(read--fag hag, and yes, I may offend!) and yes, there is a BIG back lash in store, starting NOW))):

Personally, Coulter can be as skanky as she wants, that's her business (well, if America were the way Coulter and her buddies on the far-right want it to be, she'd probably be stoned for the way she dressed and talk). But if she's going to pretend to be a culture marm, while continuing to use her column and her pulpit to promote bigotry and, of all things, McCarthyism, then someone should let the papers that run Coulter's un-American bile know exactly what kind of filth they're distributing in good family newspapers.

Dubai and the Clintons: He advises, she dissents

TRIUMPH sez "Woof! --just like any other show biz couple, or HIGH-profile POL one, they disagree, and agree on that much yes, CONAN,Letterman said that bubba is getting the couch."

AFP: Bill Clinton advises Dubai as Hillary attacks its US ports deal ON Mar 02 10:11 AM US/Eastern

Former president Bill Clinton has privately advised Dubai officials how to address US political concerns over a controversial ports deal, as his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton, publicly attacks the
deal.

Dubai Ports World bid to takeover Britain's P and O, which runs terminal operations at six major US ports, has triggered a political firestorm in the United States.

Senator Clinton has voiced vigorous opposition to the 5.7-billion-euro (6.8-billion-dollar) takeover, saying it threatens US national security.

She is attempting to push legislation through Congress that seeks to block the deal, partly on the grounds that DP World is foreign-government owned.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported Thursday her husband -- who it said was paid 300,000 dollars in 2002 to address a summit in Dubai -- has advised Dubai officials how to soothe US concerns over the deal.

"Mr. Clinton, who this week called the United Arab Emirates a 'good ally to America,' advised Dubai's leaders to propose a 45-day delay to allow for an intensive investigation of the acquisition," the FT said, citing a spokesman for the ex president.

DP World has agreed with the White House to undertake a more lengthy review process of the deal, despite already received government approval for it to proceed.

The takeover would see DP World run ports at Baltimore, Miami, New Jersey, New Orleans, New York and Philadelphia.

A court in London was due to give a ruling on Wednesday on the legality of DP World's takeover of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.
