Christmas, 1961 --- Fast Forward: Chanukkah Bush, 2008

President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Christmas, 1961. Courtesy of the JFK Linrary Archives.

Has Camelot returned? YES. ((((Soon!  It is said to be coming back!)))

Meanwhile, on truemors* (rhymes with rumors), a Hannukah celebration has been sent out from WHO EOP (White House, Executive Office of the President) with a Chistmas Tree on it. (((Or shall we refer to the tree as I do, the 'Chanukkah BUSH' )))*

(((("roll out the holly ---challah!! ------ for we need a little Chrismas --CHANUKKAH -- right this very minute---- Light the Menorah! OH!  i LOVE MY jERRY hERMAN! LA LA LA LA LA -- ECUMENICAL ME! )))))))

*White House Hanukkah Reception Invitation Includes Christmas Tree

The White House’s annual Hanukkah reception brings together leaders from the Jewish community to spin the dreidel and celebrate the festival of lights, but this year’s invitation to the shindig drew an unwanted reaction of “huh” from invitees. The official White House invite reads “[President Bush] requests the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception,” which is all fine and dandy, but the image on the invite features a Clydesdale horse lugging a Christmas tree up to a Christmas wreath-decorated 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Jewish community leader Isaac Abraham chimed in with his theory on the mishap: “It’s obvious what’s going on here: The Christmas tree is being taken out of the White House and the menorah is being brought in the back.” Hmm, it seems the president’s protocol police have checked out a couple months early.

The Worm has Turned-over. The press backlash on lipstick, pigs and pitbulls

Obama in April, 2008: Today he says "Don't Swift-Boat me!" to the very same media folk?

DRUDGE: AS THE PRESS TURNS: OBAMA SAYS 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'

--------------------------------

Phraseology Lesson:

Where does the phrase "the worm has turned" come from? from Maven Phrases:

It's one of many derived forms of an old proverb, the base of which is either tread on a worm and it will turn or even a worm will turn. It means 'even the most humble will strike back if abused enough'.

The proverb is first recorded in John Heywood's 1546 collection of proverbs in the form: "Tread a woorme on the tayle and it must turne agayne." Shakespeare uses it, of course: "The smallest worm will turn, being trodden on" (Henry VI, part III). It has remained common in all sorts of literature: "He's a very meek type. Still, the worm will turn, or so they say." (Agatha Christie, The Mirror Crack'd).

The proverb's first American attestation is in 1703, and there are a number of eighteenth-century American examples, showing that it has been popular for some time.

In the form the worm has turned, the proverb is often used in the broad sense 'the situation has changed', which suggests that people aren't really clear about what it really means: The day was one short, flippary (sic) sound bite or two on how one Sen. Barrack H. Obama could say "fishwrap" and "lipstick on a pig" in two or three sentences and watch the worm turn 360 degrees in favor of Mr. McCain and running mate _____ (you know who!). Oh! And how the worm has turned for Mr. McCain--whose approval ratings now rise above Mr. Obama's s in my state by 10 percentage points! (re-tread on a quote from the venerable nyt)

NYT is dead-wrong! Fred Thompson can campaign any way he damn well pleases -- let the other Romneys stomp Iowa six times a day

NYT- SPARSE SCHEDULE FOR THOMPSON ON TOUR: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/16/us/politics/16thompson.html?ei=5065&en=06396b6588b0d702&ex=1190520000&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print

Okeydoke. Bus trip. That was the way that it was done. The tour bus off to Iowa, New Hampshire, Virginia, Tennessee, Iowa, Texas, California, put the West Wing Vol 6 in the DVD player, sit back and enjoy the ride. Don't forget New Jersey! Not this year. Not if you read DRUDGE, NYT, Reuters, Yahoo!, Salon, YOU TUBES RANTS, Newt Gingrich's doom + gloom forecast (80% democrat, Mr. Speaker?), the cal thomas' cavalcade, and the best part, " rudy vs hilary and the battle of ny"right in Battery Park!....no, sir. No need today.

The way that it is done in 2008 is simple, new-fangled MEDIA, PROMOTION and CHUTZPAH. YOU TUBE and the swinging 24 hour media are only part of it because the news NEVER shuts down!

Remedy is immediate: Just get out the message and pass it along. No tour bus needed.

Yes, like the message, clean up the war, pro-life, federalist values. Yes, now even Greenspan says http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5i684kQul6CZHqjTLwK5ECHUpnUMQ that Bush got us into war but to save our oil. Why couldn't he just come out and say that TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE to stop Saddam in the first place? What's done is done. Now someone has to be depended upon to clean up the mess, and damnit, have the US come clean.
But I ask you, does it really matter where you hear this, and learn how it will unfold?

(after all, you are reading this, aren't you? Do you really care where I am? And who am I talking about?

F R E D i D. IT H O M P S O N, now broadcasting from MCLEAN, VIRGINIA.

you got it!)

Fred D. Thompson Watch Day #32 - "George W. Bush did a darn good thing." Okay. But why not hang Veep Dick Cheney, the "Obstructionist-in -Chief"?

MediaBistro.com reports headlines: Bush Spares Libby From Prison (NYT)President Bush spared I. Lewis Libby Jr. from prison Monday, commuting his two-and-a-half year sentence while leaving intact his conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice in the C.I.A. leak case. Bush's action, announced hours after a panel of judges ruled that Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, could not put off serving his sentence while he appealed his conviction, came as a surprise to all but a few members of the president's inner circle. Bush Statement: "I respect the jury's verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive."CNN.com: Joe Wilson outraged. NYT: Graphic diary of the leak. E&P: Bush left intact a $250,000 fine and two years probation for Libby. Democrats quickly ripped the decision.
