*White House Hanukkah Reception Invitation Includes Christmas Tree

The White House’s annual Hanukkah reception brings together leaders from the Jewish community to spin the dreidel and celebrate the festival of lights, but this year’s invitation to the shindig drew an unwanted reaction of “huh” from invitees. The official White House invite reads “[President Bush] requests the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception,” which is all fine and dandy, but the image on the invite features a Clydesdale horse lugging a Christmas tree up to a Christmas wreath-decorated 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Jewish community leader Isaac Abraham chimed in with his theory on the mishap: “It’s obvious what’s going on here: The Christmas tree is being taken out of the White House and the menorah is being brought in the back.” Hmm, it seems the president’s protocol police have checked out a couple months early.
